National Audit Office of Lithuania announced the results of three systemic audits: Return to the State of State-Owned Enterprises; Municipality-Owned Enterprises Management and Operations; and Founding and Management of Public Agencies. The results of the audits features such findings as that some of the Enterprises and Agencies in the public sector do not create added value to the state, and in some cases provide value only to themselves or even groups of private individuals.
During the audits the data of 1,057 legal persons (of different legal forms) was analysed: in 2017 state was the owner (or the main shareholder) of 118 SOEs; in 2015 operated 271 MOE; and in 2015 within the state operated 668 public agencies with the state or municipalities as their participant.
