GCC representatives shared Lithuania’s experience in good governance practices at the OECD Autumn Session
On October 28–29, the regular OECD Autumn Session dedicated to the governance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) took place at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) headquarters in Paris, with representatives from the Governance Coordination Centre (GCC) participating.
During the session, discussions focused on risk management, and the progress of Croatia, Bulgaria, and Ukraine toward OECD accession was presented. Participants also discussed best practices in SOE governance, including the formulation of state ownership policy, implementation of public policy objectives through SOEs, the application of sustainability principles in their operations, and the implementation of updated OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises.
Jurgita Bagdonienė, Acting Head of the GCC, was invited to speak at the session on the topic of risk management and the data collection compendium.
“In Paris, we not only gained a wealth of valuable insights but also had the opportunity to share Lithuania’s experience in strengthening risk management — from the role of company boards and audit committees, and the establishment of a clear legal framework, to communicating state ownership expectations, maintaining consistent dialogue with SOE boards, and data-driven portfolio monitoring through the Good Governance Index and financial indicators.
We are pleased that Lithuania’s experience is being recognized, draws attention, and can serve as an example for other OECD countries. This shows that the governance of Lithuanian SOEs is moving in the right direction,” said J. Bagdonienė.
