THE SAKARTVELOS DELEGATION WAS INTERESTED IN PRACTICES OF LITHUANIAN SOE MANAGEMENT
Today, on June 26, the Sakartvelos delegation visited the Management Coordination Center and got acquainted with the good management practices of SOEs and the successfully implemented transformation of the SOE sector in Lithuania.
This study visit is part of the World Bank’s program of support to the government of Sakartvel in the preparation of new basic legislation on the governance of SOEs.
“We are glad that the good experience of Lithuania in restructuring the SOE sector is noticed by foreign partners as well. In developing international cooperation, we are not only actively involved in OECD activities, but also participate in exchange programs of good SOE management practices with countries that are reforming the SOE sector. Last year in Sakartveli, a complex transformation of the public sector was launched, so we discussed the lessons of SOE management reforms and shared the experience of creating a regulatory system and good governance practices that are successfully applied by companies in our country. We hope that the successful experience of transformation of SOEs achieved by Lithuania will also be useful for Sakartvel”, stressed the head of the Governance Coordination Center, Vidas Danielius.
High-ranking officials of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Finance of Sakartvelo participated in this familiarization visit. During the visit, members of the Sakartvelos delegation were introduced to the activities of the Governance Coordination Center, SOE reform and its challenges were presented, and the fundamental principles of SOE management in Lithuania were reviewed. Sakartvelo delegates also visited and communicated with representatives of the state-run energy transmission and exchange company EPSO-G.
In the coming days, Sakartvelo’s delegation will continue its familiarization visit in Latvia and Estonia, where it will also be interested in the peculiarities of SOE management.
